Max Floriani (born February 6, 2003) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a Defender for Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes.
Career
[edit]Saint Louis
[edit]Floriani played for Saint Louis for three seasons from 2022 until 2024, he played 56 games with 53 starts for the Billikens during his college career.[1]
While playing for Saint Louis, Floriani was a part of the Billikens' NCAA tournament teams in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Taking a redshirt year in his first year at Saint Louis in 2021, Floriani played his debut college season in 2022. In 2022 as a freshman, Floriani was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team and helped the Billikens to A-10 regular season and tournament titles.
Floriani's junior year in 2024 helped him garner MLS attention, being named to the Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference and Second-team All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches. As a defender/midfielder at Saint Louis, he anchored the Saint Louis defense that led the league in goals against average and shutout percentage while scoring 3 goals and recording 1 assist.
San Jose Earthquakes
[edit]Floriani was selected with the No. 2 overall selection by the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.[2][3][4]
On April 19, 2025, Floriani made his MLS debut for the Earthquakes in a 5-3 loss to Sporting Kansas City. Floriani played three minutes in the match.[5]
On April 26, 2025, Floriani made his first MLS start in a 2-1 loss to the Columbus Crew. Floriani played 90 minutes in the match.[6]
