Sumy Oblast update

[edit]

ISW, geolocation resources (such as Creamy Caprice) and several news sites such as this one all agree on Russia now again holding some area in Sumy Oblast, namely at least part of Novenke, and geolocated imagery (for example, in CC mentioned above) shows Russian forces in the northernmost part of Basivka (considering how small Novenke is and located behind that geolocated landmark, it also seems that Russian MoD claim about completely captured Novenke is true). So it looks like Sumy Oblast section warrants an update here and in article about Sumy Oblast under Russian control. Aennfred (talk) 08:19, 13 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done Novenke has been added. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) 12:24, 14 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Basivka is also contested for some time and confirmed with various geolocated photage, according to ISW, should be added and set to "contested". --Aennfred (talk) 19:55, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Basivka was mentioned by Russian MoD as captured and announced as captured a day before by "The Northern Wind", a Telegram channel from the Russian "North" group of armies. Should be added as either "contested" or "captured". That's a settlement much larger than any single one previously held by Russia in Sumy Oblast during 2024-2025. Updated 8 April 2025: there is a recent geolocation (on sources such as Creamy Caprice) with Ukrainians storming Russian position in a settlement of Loknya, that's one to the south of Basivka, that all but confirms Basivka as captured and Loknya as contested. And ISW mentioned that some Ukrainian military experts such as Mashovets have admitted the loss of Basivka. Also Zhuravka is at least "contested" according to ISW map. --Aennfred (talk) 15:43, 6 April 2025 (UTC) P.P.S. Basivka was even confirmed by ISW... please, add it as "captured" and set Loknya to "contested". --Aennfred (talk) 20:32, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
