Turkey as part of Western Europe?

[edit]

I don't doubt that Turkey is partially in Europe, but Western Europe seems completely wrong. Especially given the fact that Turkey is also listed under "Middle East and North Africa", so it's listed twice in the table of countries grouped by region. Ericzolf (talk) 10:06, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This article just reflects what the Economist Democracy Index says, and this index classifies Turkey in Western Europe. Gorpik (talk) 22:19, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

2024 EIU Democracy Index?

[edit]

Does anyone have any idea when the index will be updated for 2024? The 2023 report was released on February 14, 2024, and as of writing it’s been one year and one week without any updates. 2001:4453:521:1D00:2035:868E:EF12:D1AA (talk) 07:49, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am very fed up with the 2024 democracy indices having not been posted, and it is making me very mad. 2600:8800:6200:163F:4C44:3852:1B20:20FF (talk) 20:24, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's possible that since there were an unusually high number of political events around the world in 2024, it's just taking longer for the scores to be calculated. Chancerbox (talk) 19:18, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Finally it seems that the latest report has been released. Since I couldn’t download the report for free, Can anyone update on this page? 126.133.200.211 (talk) 22:24, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The new scores are out. I was able to view them with an account, and no subscription. TheRichCapitalist (talk) 00:17, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also support creating a List of countries by Democracy Index page, to separate out the entire score history from the main article, like what has been done for the Corruption Perceptions Index. TheRichCapitalist (talk) 00:43, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I was just about to say that... I follow politics quite often, so how are we going to get all the scores in without clogging up the page? HarukaAmaranth 01:45, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Have multiple rows, like one from 2006 to 2017 (10 columns), and the rest in another row, on that new page. TheRichCapitalist (talk) 02:52, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate you sharing the link. 113.149.199.65 (talk) 08:06, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

sorting by ascending/descending order

[edit]

Under the "List by country" subsection, is there a way to readd the arrows, so users can sort the countries by ascending/descending order? I'm sorry if my question doesn't make sense. Newcomer1000 (talk) 03:20, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Background color

[edit]

The background color for each score does not seem consistent. How is the background color for each score determined? Stunts1990 (talk) 21:52, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean with does not seem consistent? The color key is explained in several places inside the article. Gorpik (talk) 07:07, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The background color for North Korea changes from #660018 in 2021 to #66000f in 2022 despite its democracy score remaining at 1.08. Stunts1990 (talk) 15:30, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like somebody made a mistake with the 2022 background colour, which carried on to subsequent years. I just fixed it. Gorpik (talk) 17:22, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I Reverted the background color for the democracy score of North Korea, from 2022, back to #66000f as it is the background color in the color swatch listed under the heading "By regime type" and the color that North Korea is shaded in the article image. Changing the background color for the democracy score of North Korea exclusively will lead to further inconsistencies in the background color for democracy scores. Stunts1990 (talk) 18:22, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't you just fix the colours, then, instead of doing a revert to leave the wrong ones? Gorpik (talk) 07:49, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fixing the colors requires knowing which colors are correct and which colors are incorrect. I have no way of knowing if the color swatches listed under the heading "By regime type" are correct or the background colors of the democracy scores are correct. Fixing the background colors would also require me to know how the background colors are determined in the first place. I currently do not know how the background colors are determined. Furthermore, there could potentially be hundreds of incorrect background colors for democracy scores. Revising over all democracy scores is too tedious for any one person to do. I think that a Wikipedia bot would be needed to revise and correct all of the background colors for each democracy score. I currently have no experience with Wikipedia bots. I added the background color section to the talk page in the hope that someone more experienced with Wikipedia bots could instantiate a bot to quickly revise and correct all of the background colors. Stunts1990 (talk) 20:36, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The section with the heading "By Regime Type" clearly shows the relationship between the nation's scores and background colour. Mediatech492 (talk) 01:15, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
