Is it really necessary to include combat classes such as: elements and weapons (Genshin Impact), battlesuits and types (Honkai Impact 3rd), types and paths (Honkai: Star Rail), and attributes and styles (Zenless Zone Zero)? I've read both WP:GAMECRUFT and WP:NOTGUIDE, and noticed that these might be considered as such. I've also noticed in other game articles with or without dedicated character lists articles that they not include similar combat classes. I do think characters, cast, and descriptions should suffice. Also, is tabular form still fine to be used or is it better to use lists like in (Fate/Grand Order)? RPC7778 (talk) 02:44, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @RPC7778, I don't think there's an exact one-size-fits-all answer, but I would agree that those examples seem close to gamecruft. The question I would ask is, Dd reliable sources discuss those elements of the classes in detail, such that they seem to be a significant part of the gameplay/what the game is known for? If reviews of Genshin Impact often discuss the elements of classes as a way that the game separates itself from others in the genre, that might be worth including. If these are just in-universe stats that fans are adding though, I would agree, cut. Alyo(chat·edits)13:31, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Someday i hope to play video games again. What does 6v6 mean, and where should Wikipedia define the term and terms like it? Seems un-encyclopedic to use the term without explaining it somewhere. i'm guessing it means 6 players Versus 6 players (or 6 NPCs), but does any reliable source confirm that? Wikipedia has an unrelated page named 6V6 and i haven't found 6v6 on Wiktionary.
Hello, I have a question regarding WP:VG/TENSE. I noticed a small back-and-forth on the defunct Mighty Doom about the correct use of tense but wasn't sure myself after reading the manual. It states that gameplay sections should be written in present tense, even if the respective game was released decades ago. Which makes sense, but does it also apply for defunct games?
One more question: The lead currently states that it is part of the Doom franchise. That should stay, right? Even though the game is defunct, it's still part of the franchise. Vestigium Leonis (talk) 08:35, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It should use past tense everywhere. I would avoid "It is part of the Doom franchise" all-together and say something else that makes sense tense-wise, like "It released as part of the Doom franchise". TarkusABtalk/contrib19:10, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
