Project to fix mistakes in vital articles with AI assistance
[edit]I was wondering whether some editors here would participate in a project to fix spelling and grammar mistakes in vital articles with AI assistance. Following helpful feedback from an earlier experiment, I used an AI-powered user script to create a list of correction suggestions with the following format:
− Jaimini went to those four birds and was able to clearisdoubts and confusions.+ Jaimini went to those four birds and was able to clear his doubts and confusions.- Explanation: The word "is" is a typographical error and should be corrected to "his" to indicate possession, referring to Jaimini's doubts and confusions. (scroll to sentence in article | edit article)
To participate, go to the list at User:Phlsph7/AI spelling and grammar suggestions for vital articles and review suggestions by either fixing the indicated errors in the articles or dismissing invalid suggestions. After implementing or dismissing a suggestion, remove it from the list so other editors don't check it again. Not all AI suggestions are correct so please review them critically.
Currently, the list covers the first few articles from the categories Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/People/Religious figures, Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Geography/Cities, and Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Everyday life. Depending on your preferences, I can also add different ones. One goal of this experimental project is to figure out how AI can help editors improve Wikipedia, so I would be interested to hear your thoughts and improvement ideas. RFC on "Author (year)" in-text citing
[edit]- NB: this message was cross-posted on Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style, Wikipedia talk:Reliable sources, and here.
Dear writing connoisseurs. This is a shameless spam message to inform you about an RfC regarding narrative citation. I wonder what copy-editors think of this type of referencing?
Specifically, see here: Wikipedia talk:Citing sources#Proposal
I think it's quite strange that Wikipedia has existed for 24 years, yet there still isn't a policy section about this. Input is appreciated. Cheers, Manifestation (talk) 19:18, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
Problematic social media use article
[edit]The Problematic social media use article is exceptionally poor, and has been for some time, largely because it has been the subject of repeated student editing projects that have resulted in people adding material just for the sake of writing. The writing style reflects this, with a lot of school-essay style padding.
The article desperately needs tightening up, refactoring and copyediting; I think it could easily be reduced to half the length without losing anything of value.
Would anyone here be willing to take a look at it? — The Anome (talk) 08:56, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- I've tagged it with {{copy edit}}. If you want it done sooner, you can list it at WP:GOCE/REQ. All the best, Miniapolis 13:45, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

Dark mode compatibility
[edit]Just a note that it was reported that the pages of this WikiProject subspace do not support dark mode, due to the way it is using custom colors. See Recommendations for night mode compatibility on Wikimedia wikis for tips on how to support dark mode. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 12:39, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have improved dark mode compatibility with all or most of our main guild pages. The individual drive and blitz pages could use a little help, but that's a lot of pages. The main pages' tabs are using the default settings provided by Template:Start tab, which uses Template:Tab to build the tabs. That is the template that needs dark mode attention. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:42, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- I fixed {{Tab}} today, so the pages should look even better (along with many of the 6,000 other pages that use that template). – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:07, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
