The 2025 NFL draft was the 90th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible players. The draft was held at Lambeau Field and its adjacent Titletown District in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on April 24–26, 2025. The Tennessee Titans, who tied with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants for the worst record during the 2024 season, held the first overall pick and selected Cam Ward, a quarterback from the Miami Hurricanes.[1]
For the first time in the common draft era,[a] the 2025 draft commenced with all teams holding their original selections in the first round.[2] The Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams later traded out of the first round after the draft had begun.
Host city
[edit]Green Bay, Wisconsin was chosen over Washington, D.C. as the host city on May 22, 2023.[3] The draft was held at Lambeau Field, the home stadium of the Green Bay Packers, and its adjacent Titletown District.[4]
Attendees
[edit]The following players attended the draft in Green Bay:[5]
Although Sorrell was not invited to the draft, he flew to Green Bay with family and friends to attend and stayed all three days. When the Packers selected him in the fourth round, he was announced by Roger Goodell and welcomed on stage like a first-round pick. The Packers' staff did not know he was in attendance when they sent in the pick.[6]

Forfeited picks
[edit]- ^ San Francisco forfeited its fifth-round selection as the punishment for administrative payroll accounting errors that occurred during the 2022 season.[10]
- ^ Atlanta forfeited its fifth-round selection as the punishment for "improper contact" with QB Kirk Cousins, WR Darnell Mooney and TE Charlie Woerner in violation of the league's anti-tampering policy.[11]
Resolution JC-2A picks
[edit]Resolution JC-2A, which was enacted by the NFL in November 2020, rewards teams for developing minority candidates for head coach and/or general manager positions.[12] The resolution rewards teams whose minority candidates are hired away for one of those positions by awarding compensatory draft picks. These draft picks are at the end of the third round, after standard compensatory picks; if multiple teams qualify, they are awarded by draft order in the first round. These picks are in addition to the standard 32 compensatory picks.[13] Three picks were awarded for the 2025 draft pursuant to the resolution.
- ^ San Francisco received a third-round selection (100th overall) after Houston hired former San Francisco defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans as head coach.[7]
- ^ LA Rams received a third-round selection (101st overall) after Atlanta hired former LA Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as head coach.[8]
- ^ Detroit received a third-round selection (102nd overall) after NY Jets hired former Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as head coach.[9]
Prank call controversy
[edit]During the draft, some prospects received prank calls from people pretending to be NFL front office staff.[14] Shedeur Sanders was the most notable prospect to receive a prank call: on Day 2 of the draft, Jax Ulbrich, the son of Falcons DC Jeff Ulbrich, and one other person pretended to be calling on behalf of New Orleans Saints. Sydney Schoen, the daughter of Giants GM Joe Schoen, had previously been accused.[15] After the draft, Jax and the Atlanta Falcons issued an apology to Shedeur and his family.[16][17] Other prospects, including Abdul Carter, Mason Graham, Tyler Warren, Josh Conerly Jr., Kyle McCord, and Chase Lundt, also received calls from unrelated pranksters.[18][19][20][21]
