Cora Systems is a privately held Irish software company that develops enterprise project and portfolio management (PPM) solutions. Founded in 1999[1] and headquartered in Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, the company also has offices in Dublin, Ireland; Bedford, United Kingdom; New York, United States; and Virginia, United States. Its software is used in sectors such as healthcare,[2][3] transportation,[4] aerospace,[1] defense,[5] and public administration.[6][7]

History

[edit]

Cora Systems was founded by Philip Martin in 1999.[8] It has received financial support from the Western Development Commission, which began investing in the company in the early 2000s.[9][8]

In 2022, Scottish Equity Partners (SEP), a UK-based growth equity firm, invested in Cora Systems to support its product development and international growth initiatives.[10][11]

The company’s software has been implemented in projects such as the NHS Global Digital Exemplar program, for which it received a Project Management Institute UK award in 2019.[12][8] In 2014, the company was named during a Dáil Éireann session in connection with an Android app it developed for the Irish Water Meter Survey program.[13] In 2023, it contracted with Irish Rail.[14]

Recognition

[edit]

In 2018, Cora Systems received an Irish Logistics and Transport Supply Chain Achievement Award.[15] In 2023, Deloitte ranked the company 33rd among Ireland's 50 fastest-growing technology companies based on revenue growth.[16]

Operations

[edit]

As of 2018, Cora Systems had 57 staff and an annual turnover of €5.5m.[17] By 2022, it employed approximately 135 people,[18] 125 of which were at its headquarters.[19] Its headquarters in Carrick-on-Shannon[20] positions it among a small number of technology firms based outside Dublin, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, and other national and regional tech hubs identified by TechIreland.[21][22][17][failed verification] At the opening of its Dublin office, then-Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail Neale Richmond recognized the company's "transformative role" in the Irish digital technology sector.[23][failed verification]

Cora Systems supported Limerick City and County Council's transition to managing all capital projects using cloud-based software.[6]
