On March 3, 2023, an ERJ-135 of SJL Aeronautica overran the runway on landing at Lubumbashi International Airport. All 33 passengers and crew survived[1][2].
Accident
[edit]The aircraft took off from Kinshasa for a flight to Lubumbashi. The plane landed at Lubumbushi's Runway 07, but hydroplanned and overran the runway. The aircraft stopped about 350 meters of the runway. The aircraft suffered minor damage. Some reports say that there were minor injuries[3].
Investigation
[edit]The accident is still under investigation, the probable cause is aquaplaning. On May 2024, the BFEA released the final report of the accident in French.
