Alternative punk is an evolution of punk rock, alternative punk was popular in America in the 1980s, this influence was caused by the Clash, Sex Pistols and Buzzezocks during the famous British invasion in America in the 1960s, many street punks were inspired by the punk rock band, one of which was the Ramones since the hardcore genre was abandoned in the late 1980s and 1990s, one of the famous alternative punk bands was Green Day with their characteristics in the 1990s the alternative punk era developed, alternative punk is actually different from most punk in general, it is not pop punk, glam, anarcho, and emo, this genre is called modern punk.

Alternative punk has more melodic lyrics in music, this music genre is experimental mixing punk rock, power pop, pop rock, indie rock and alternative rock, alternative punk has strong guitar distortion, this alternative punk genre is popular among young people in the 1990s and 2000s compared to old punk rock, this genre has more freedom of expression and social among young people, but there is no initiator or popularizer because this genre is so developed, it is known that nirvana initiated alternative punk in 1980 called grunge that rock bands don't have to be glam but this punk genre is often popularized by offspring, greenday, sum41, new found glory, NOFX etc.
