Draft:Capybara's

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Capybara is an animal native to South America and Central America. They are known to be the largest rodent in the world. Everything I’m about to tell you will be all the information needed to know about the capybara and what they are. I will be telling you the habitat, diet, lifespan, breeding, weight/characteristics, location, predators, threats, relationships, and 3 facts. I think capybaras are the best animals.

The capybara inhabits Panama, Columbia, Venezuela, Guyam, Peru, Brazil, Paraguay, Northern Argentina, and Uruguay. They live in dense vegetation and around rivers, lakes, ponds , marshes and swamps. The diet of the capybara is that they are herbivores and eat 6-8 lbs of grass a day. They eat vegetation around water or even aquatic plants. For the capybaras lifespan it has an average of 8-10 years in the wild if in captivity they can live even longer. When capybaras breed they have one litter a year and usually in each litter is 4 baby’s. Most breeding is during May and June or at the start of the rainy season. The average weight of a capybara is usually 110 lbs and is 4 feet long. They look like a large guinea pig and have a barrel-like body with a blunt snout with cheek teeth always growing. The front legs are also shorter than the back legs with strong nails like horse hooves and they spend a lot of time in the water.

Capybaras are found around South American river banks or where any still water is available. The capybara's predators are jaguars, anacondas and caiman. The capybaras baby’s get taken by harpy eagles and ocelots. The worst threat for the capybara are the humans because the humans hunt the capybara for their meat and hide and the hide is used to make leather. The capybaras' threats are jaguars, anacondas and caiman. For the capybaras relationships are mutually beneficial, competitive and predatory. For mutually beneficial there are birds that ride on top of the bird's back and eat the bugs so as the bird gets fed the capybara gets cleaned. For competitive there are puma and ocelots. For predatory there are jaguar anaconda and caiman. The three facts that I like are that capybaras eat their own poop to break down all the grass they eat. The second one is that they can sleep in the water and the third and last is that their teeth continuously grow.

That's why I think capybaras are the best animal out of all the animals in the world. A little summary of capybaras is that they are the largest rodent. They are native to Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Peru, Brazil, Paraguay, Northeast Argentina and Uruguay. The capybara's habitat is wet marshlands. They like to swim and can even sleep in water. They weigh 110 pounds and are 4 feet long. Capybaras are known to be the calmest and nicest animals in the world.
