Contractors Direct

Contractors Direct is an American online retailer specializing in professional tools and equipment for tile, stone, and concrete construction. Founded in 1993, the company is headquartered in Hamden, Connecticut, with an additional distribution center located in Salt Lake City, Utah.^[1]

History

Contractors Direct was founded by Bertrand Roynette in 1993. The business began with Roynette selling tile cutters from the trunk of his car. As the company grew, it became a catalog-based retailer operating out of Connecticut. In 2005, Robert Jesse Driscoll joined the company and led efforts to expand the company’s digital presence.

In 2016, Contractors Direct moved to a larger facility in Hamden to accommodate growth. In 2020, a second distribution center was opened in Salt Lake City, Utah.^[2]

Operations

Contractors Direct offers a wide range of tools and equipment used in tile, stone, and masonry work, including tile saws, mixing systems, and hand tools. The company serves business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) customers and wholesales products to local retailers.^[3]

The company partners with major construction brands, including Schluter Systems, Montolit, Multiquip, Wacker Neuson, Rubi Tools, and Laticrete. Contractors Direct offers exclusive product lines, such as Kneelit by Smart Design.^[4]

Contractors Direct ships to customers in all countries where shipping is permitted and employs between 20 and 30 staff members.^[5]
