Dave Davis is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Airlines. He assumed the role on April 21, 2025, following the company's emergence from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Prior to joining Spirit, Davis held executive positions at Sun Country Airlines and Northwest Airlines.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota.[4]
Career
[edit]Davis has held several executive roles in the aviation industry. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Northwest Airlines prior to its merger with Delta Air Lines in 2008. He also held finance leadership positions at US Airways, Perseus LLC, and Budget Group.[1]
From November 2012 to June 2014, Davis was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Global Eagle Entertainment, Inc. He then served as Chief Executive Officer and board member from July 2014 to February 2017.[3]
Davis joined Sun Country Airlines as an advisor in December 2017. He became Chief Financial Officer and board member in April 2018 and was appointed President in December 2019.
Spirit Airlines
[edit]On April 17, 2025, Spirit Airlines announced Davis's appointment as President and CEO, effective April 21, 2025. This followed the resignation of Ted Christie and the airline's emergence from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Davis was selected to lead the company through its restructuring and future operations.[3][1]
