Draft:Debate Sigam

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Debate Sigam is a document created for collaborative parliamentary style debates between 3 students in their 8th grade Debate class. One student tried to title the Google Doc 'Debate Sigma' but misspelled 'Sigma,' hence the title 'Debate Sigam.' The topics of Debate written on this document included Debates such as THR America, THBT Hedonism is an acceptable moral construct, and, most recently, THW (as head of school) fire the teacher of this Debate class. However, this document has not only been used for debate. The 3 students occasionally visit Before Its News, a right-wing propaganda website that often displays fabricated or highly biased information. Some articles could be described as pure buffoonery, such as 'The Last Bowl of Soup,' 'Ariana Grande was a Child Whore,' 'Vaseline and Toothpaste Will Make your Glaucoma Go Away,' and 'Yedolf is White now' (a reference to the recent controversy regarding Kanye Wests's Twitter posts).

Even though Before Its News may seem like merely a right-wing populist propaganda Website, alt-right pop media is actually a tactic employed by some right-wing populists to gain the following of Gen-z. according to this New York Times article. Charlie Kirk, an American political activist, is one of the leading figures In the political campaigning that targets Gen-z. This tactic has mainly become so effective because of the left-wings' struggle to enter into pop-culture. Debate Sigam has come under scrutiny of some teachers, who say it is not a good investment of education.
