The French National Fund for Open Science (Fonds National pour la Science Ouverte (FNSO)) serves as the funding mechanism for the French Plan for Open Science. Its aim is to provide financial support for projects and initiatives that promote the advancement of open science. The overarching goal is to "develop an environment for science to be cumulative, supported by data, transparent, efficient and globally accessible".[1]
History
[edit]The French National Fund for Open Science was established in July 2019 by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. It takes the form of a scientific interest group (GIS).
Governance
[edit]The governance of the French National Fund for Open Science is overseen by the Open Science Steering Committee, which serves as an advisory body to the fund’s partners. Established in April 2019 by the French Minister of Higher Education and Research, the Steering Committee plays a central role in advancing the objectives of the French Plan for Open Science. It is responsible for shaping the scientific strategy of the fund, setting funding priorities, and selecting the initiatives and projects that receive support.[2]
