Gaurav Dadheech is an Indian automotive innovator and entrepreneur, best known as the Co-founder and Head of Business & Technology at Surge Future Mobility,[1] a business unit incubated by Hero MotoCorp under Hero Hatch Program. He played a pivotal role in the development of the Surge S32[2], the world’s first class-changing electric vehicle[3], which garnered international acclaim by winning the Platinum A’ Design Award[4][5][6] and Red Dot Award[7] in 2024.12

Early life and education

Gaurav Dadheech holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is an alumnus of the top ranked BITS Pilani, where he notable published some notable research papers. He later pursued entrepreneurship training and was involved in early-stage startup efforts, including a food tech venture prior to joining Hero MotoCorp.

Career

Dadheech began his professional journey at Hero MotoCorp, where he managed multiple vehicle development projects . His contributions in project management helped reduce time-to-market and optimize production efficiency.

In 2020, he co-founded Surge Future Mobility within Hero MotoCorp as part of an internal innovation initiative. Under his leadership, the unit launched the Surge S32, a modular electric vehicle capable of transforming between a two-wheeler and a three-wheeler configuration. The product was developed to cater to urban mobility needs while addressing commercial and environmental challenges.

During his tenure, Dadheech scaled the Surge team , helped secure funding, and led the filing of multiple patents in the EV and vehicle engineering space.

Recognition

In 2024, the Surge S32 was honored with the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award[8], acknowledging its innovative design and functionality. The same year, the vehicle secured the Platinum A' Design Award[9] in the Vehicle, Mobility, and Transportation Design category, further cementing its status as a trailblazer in the industry. Additionally, TIME recognized the Surge S32 as one of the 200 Best Inventions of 2024[10], highlighting its transformative impact on urban mobility solutions.
