Submission declined on 23 December 2024 by QuicoleJR (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Comment: NCpedia is a great source, but I'm not confident that the second source is a reliable source, and I would like to see at least one more good source before accepting. QuicoleJR (talk) 00:18, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

Colonel Gideon Wright was an officer for Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War.[1]
Military Service
[edit]Gideon served in the French and Indian War while living in the colony of New York, before moving to North Carolina. During the Regulator uprising, Gideon joined with Governor William Tryon[2] and earned the rank of colonel. When the American Revolution began, he sided with the British. During the war, Wright commanded the Tories at the Battle of Shallow Ford on 14 October 1780.[1]
Death and Aftermath
[edit]Wright died 9 August 1782 in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1790 his widow, Elizabeth Durling Wright, sold 69 acres of their land for taxation out of the 200 acres that was granted by the state originally[3]. In 1791 she and her son, Hezekiah, deeded the rest of the land to Leonard Scott. It was the passed down to John W. Scott, and then to his children.[1] The land lied along the Yadkin River in Surry County.[3]
