MySanAntonio.com or MySA is a news website based in San Antonio, Texas, that was founded in 2000.[1] MySanAntonio.com was once the digital home for the San Antonio Express-News, but they split up in 2013; the sites still share a parent company, Hearst Newspapers, but the news outlets are run independently and maintain separate newsrooms.[2] Jess Elizarraras, who previously worked at the San Antonio Current and the San Antonio Express-News, has been the Editor-in-Chief of MySA since November 2020.
Notable contributions
[edit]In October 2024, MySA reporter Zachary-Taylor Wright appeared on Nancy Grace's podcast to discuss the disappearance of local San Antonio woman and realtor, Suzanne Simpson.[3] Wright has been covering the disappearance of Simpson, as well as the legal proceedings against her husband, who is accused of murdering her on October 6, 2024. Wright appeared on another episode of Grace's podcast about the Simpson case in December 2024, where Grace asked Wright for details about Brad Simpson's stop at a Whataburger on the night of the alleged murder.[4]
On October 10, 2024, MySA reporter Cristela Jones was a featured guest on Texas Public Radio's Texas Standard show.[5] Jones had reported on a gathering of high-speed rail advocates from San Antonio, Austin, Texas and Mexico to promote a line connecting Texas and Mexico by high-speed train. The advocates included officials from Mexico, Bexar County and Travis County. Despite the publicized support, the proposed line requires funding from both the state and federal government, and the plan has not advanced as of May 2025.
MySA covered the death of 12-year-old Miranda Sipps, a child from Christine, Texas who died on August 12, 2024, after suffering medical injuries several days prior on August 9. Her death gained national attention, as her parents were arrested and charged with felonies for telling police they had treated the child with smoothies and vitamins but failed to seek medical attention. MySA editor Warren Brown followed the story, and was interviewed about it by Vinnie Politan during a Court TV segment about the case.[6]
In April 2025, MySA Sr. Digital Content Producer Katy Barber appeared on Nancy Grace's podcast to discuss MySA's coverage of the stabbing death of Dallas-area teen Austin Metcalf and the unfolding details of the case involving the teenager, Karmelo Anthony, who admitted to stabbing Metcalf at a high school track meet.
