Najman Conference on Spectral Theory and Differential Equations
Formation2000; 25 years ago (2000)

A series of meetings entitled Najman Conference on Spectral Theory and Differential Equations was started in 2000[1] to bring together mathematicians working in fields related to scientific interests of the Branko Najman who died prematurely in 1996.

These include:

Later the topics of the conference series were regularly adapted and broadend to reflect new developments. The conferences take place at various locations in Croatia.

History of Najman Conferences

[edit]

First Najman Conference

[edit]

In 2000 a memorial conference was organized for Branko Najman, who died prematurely, by his colleagues, the organizing committee consisting of P. Binding, H. Langer, Z. Tutek, and J. Voigt. The official title of the event in Dubrovnik was Memorial Conference for Branko Najman on Applied Analysis and Eigenvalue Problems. The second event of the series took place, after a hiatus, in 2009 again in Dubrovnik under the title The Second Najman Conference on Spectral Problems for Operators and Matrices. P. Binding, A. Dijksma, K. Veselić, and J. Voigtwere the scientific committee and L. Grubišić, I. Nakić, and V. Hari the local organizing committee. Since 2013 the conference takes place in a more regular manner every two years, except for an interruption during the Corona lockdown period. In 2013 the event entitled Najman Conference on Spectral Problems for Operators and Matrices took place in Biograd with J. Behrndt, L. Grubišić, B. Jacob, V. Kostrykin, M. Malamud, I. Nakić, G. Teschl, and I. Veselić as organising committee. Starting with the meeting in 2017 the conferences series has adopted the name Najman Conference on Spectral Theory and Differential Equations. Since 2015 members of the organising committee are J. Behrndt, L. Grubišić, I. Nakić, and I. Veselić.
