Orange Tree is an Indian e-commerce and retail company that sells furniture, lighting, and home decor products. Based in Hyderabad, Telangana, it was founded in 2014 as the retail division of Basant, a furniture manufacturer established in 1998. The company operates an online store and physical showrooms in cities including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Orange Tree was established in 2014 by Gaurav Jain, following the operations of Basant, a Jodhpur-based furniture exporter founded by Vinay Kumar Jain in 1998.[2] Basant exported furniture to international retailers such as Crate & Barrel, West Elm, and Zara Home in 17 countries.[2] Orange Tree was launched to sell furniture and decor directly to Indian consumers through online and retail channels.[1] As of 2025, the company employs between 501 and 1,000 people and operates a 900,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.[1][3]

Products

[edit]

Orange Tree sells furniture, lighting, and home decor items. Its furniture includes beds, dining tables, sofas, and outdoor pieces, made from woods such as acacia, sheesham, mango, and teak.[4] Lighting products include floor lamps, hanging lamps, and wall lamps, often using materials like cane and wood.[5] Decor items include wall mirrors, serveware, and vases, with collections named Andaman and Eclectic Elegance.[4] The company offers online purchasing with payment options and delivery across India.[6]

Sustainability

[edit]

Orange Tree uses materials such as solid wood and natural fibers in its products, with some manufacturing processes involving solar power, according to reports.[2][4] The company’s product descriptions emphasize durability to reduce environmental impact.[4]

Operations

[edit]

Orange Tree is headquartered in Hyderabad, with additional facilities in Jodhpur, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.[3] Its 900,000-square-foot factory handles design and production.[1] The company has showrooms in Hyderabad (Banjara Hills), Bengaluru (Mysore Road), and Ahmedabad, alongside its online store.[1][7][8]

Reception

[edit]

Orange Tree has been covered by publications such as Indian Retailer, Design Pataki, and The Architect’s Diary for its furniture and decor offerings.[1][2][4] A 2017 review by LBB described its lamps and decor as “fantastic” and “funky,” but noted higher price points.[5] Some customer feedback on platforms like Quora has reported issues with product quality and service reliability, though experiences vary.[9]
