Orange Tree is an Indian e-commerce and retail company that sells furniture, lighting, and home decor products. Headquartered in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, it was founded in 2014 as the retail division of Basant, a Jodhpur-based furniture manufacturer established in 1998. The company operates an online store and showrooms in Jodhpur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.[1][2]
History
[edit]Orange Tree was founded in 2014 by Gaurav Jain, building on Basant, a furniture exporter started by Vinay Kumar Jain in 1998 in Jodhpur.[2] Basant supplied furniture to retailers like Crate & Barrel, West Elm, and Zara Home in over 20 countries.[1] Orange Tree was launched to offer furniture and decor to Indian consumers.[3] As of 2025, it employs 501–1,000 people and operates a 935,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Jodhpur.[3]
Products
[edit]Orange Tree sells furniture, lighting, and home decor through its online platform and showrooms. Furniture includes beds, dining tables, and sofas, made from materials like acacia, sheesham, mango, metal, and cane.[1] Lighting products include floor and hanging lamps, and decor items include mirrors and vases, with collections like Andaman and Toshi.[4]
Operations
[edit]Orange Tree is headquartered in Jodhpur, with showrooms in Jodhpur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.[1] Its 935,000-square-foot Jodhpur factory includes workshops for wood, metal, and stone, with automated finishing and testing labs.[1] The company plans to open a new showroom in Raipur.[1]
Sustainability
[edit]Orange Tree uses materials like wood, bamboo, and jute, and incorporates solar power in its Jodhpur factory.[5] In 2024, it launched the Raw Foundry initiative with Raw Collaborative, a regenerative design competition for design students in Gujarat to promote sustainable design, mentoring students from schools like NIFT Jodhpur and IIT Jodhpur.[5]
Reception
[edit]Publications like The Hindu, Indian Retailer, and The Sunday Guardian Live have covered Orange Tree’s sustainable and design efforts.[5][3][1] A 2017 review by LBB praised its lamps and decor but noted higher price points.[6]
