In February 2024, Pencarrow Private Equity invested a multimillion dollar sum in Petdirect to support retail expansion and product development.[9]
Petdirect launched an online veterinary pharmacy in mid‑2024, offering prescription and over-the-counter pet medicines.[5]
Products and services
[edit]Petdirect lists over 6,000 pet products online and offers a subscription delivery service called AutoDeliver.[4]
Operations
[edit]The company operates an ecommerce website and maintains fulfilment warehouses in Auckland and Christchurch.[3] It also provides prescription pet medicines via its online pharmacy.[5]
Retail stores
[edit]Petdirect opened a physical store in Takapuna, Auckland, which was recognised as the "Big Box Winner" in the 2024 Red Awards by the New Zealand Retail Interiors Association.[2]
Community involvement
[edit]In March 2025, Petdirect participated in the SPCA's national "Double Your Impact" campaign, matching public donations during a one-day fundraising appeal.[10]
Partnerships
[edit]Petdirect has a partnership with Air New Zealand that allows customers to earn Airpoints Dollars on eligible purchases.[4][11]
