The Semaphore Cottage, also known as the Signalman's Quarters, is a historic sandstone building located in Princes Park, Battery Point, Hobart, Tasmania. Constructed in 1818 as part of the Mulgrave Battery complex, it is considered the oldest surviving building in Battery Point.[1] The cottage played a pivotal role in Tasmania's early communication network, serving as a key node in the semaphore signalling system that connected Hobart to remote locations such as Port Arthur.
