KUBOO is a Portuguese Self-Storage company founded in 2018 by two friends[1] with the aim of responding to the need for storage in Portugal, while at the same time reinventing the storage process, making it more welcoming and humane, where each person is cared for with time and dedication.[2] Its first facility and HQ opened doors in early 2019 and is located in Carnaxide, Oeiras, Portugal.[1]

Today KUBOO counts with 3 of the largest functioning locations in Portugal: KUBOO Carnaxide in Oeiras, KUBOO Carcavelos/Abóboda in Cascais and KUBOO Seixal in Lisbon's south shore,[2][1] and more than 3,000 units from 1 to 30sqm+.[3]
Value Proposition
[edit]According to its slogan "Aumente a sua casa" which translates to "Expand your house" and interviews with the founders, KUBOO aims to be an extension of people's homes and offices, claiming to put its clients above everything.[2][1] For that, KUBOO presents a warm and cosy design with every detail thought out, granting them the status of "the most beloved self-storage in Portugal, not only because of customer feedback, but also because of all the customer reviews on Google" as claimed by store manager Dora Cabaço.[2] Besides that, KUBOO follows a structured recruiting process in order to build teams that get along and are people oriented "providing a service at the level of a 5 star Hotel".[2][1]
Giving back to the community
[edit]KUBOO is a company with an eco-social commitment developing various partnerships with institutions and NGOs like QUERCUS (every year they plant an indigenous tree for each new customer), Missão Partilhar (helping the less favoured by collecting and distributing clothes, meals, and other goods for specific needs),[4] Portuguese Blood Institute (organizing and hosting blood collections),[5] G.S. Carcavelos (paying fees so kids can play sports in a club), supporting local artists and athletes, among other initiatives.
Since the 24/25 season KUBOO sponsors a football league organized by Paio Pires F.C. named Liga KUBOO.[6] The competition happens every weekend in the Estádio Vale d'Abelha, its entirely free to participate, and its destined to promote socialisation, development and learning[7] among football teams for boys and girls aged 5 to 9 years old who, without it, wouldn't have a weekly league to play in.[8][6][7] In its first season (November 2024 - June 2025), Liga KUBOO has already garnered more than 30 Clubs, including SL Benfica.[8]

Since December 2023, KUBOO along with IPEIP- As Descobertas in partnership with Belenenses, plan and organise a celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities (December 3) consisting of a morning with a series of activities from sports, to painting, and dancing in Estádio do Restelo.[9] The event is destined to young kids from the schools of Lisbon (special and regular education) and aims to raise awareness for equality, friendship and respect despite differences among young kids.
Awards
[edit]
KUBOO is a member of Fedessa- Federation of European Self-Storage Associations having been honoured with the European Independent Store of The Year Award in the 2022 FEDESSA AWARDS, a first for a Portuguese company and only 3 years after its inception.[10][11][12]
In September 2023, KUBOO and The Portuguese Blood Institute partnered with the famous professional sports club C.F. "Os Belenenses" for a Blood Donation and Bone Marrow Registration Campaign named "Todos Podemos Fazer a Diferença" that won the Liga Portugal Social Responsibility Award.[13]
