Shailesh Kumar Yadav is a 1993 batch Indian Police Service officer of Tamil Nadu cadre who is currently the head of Tamilnadu Police Housing Corporation and Director General of Police of Idol Wing CID cell of Tamil Nadu Police.[1]
He is a Masters in Ancient History from Allahabad University[2] and has also qualified UGC JRF.[3]
Career
[edit]In 1991, he became an officer in CISF through UPSC and in 1993, after getting selected in IPS in the Civil Services Examination 1993 conducted by UPSC, he left CISF and joined IPS, he got Tamil Nadu cadre, he got his first posting as ASP in Tirunelveli district, he has served as Superintendent of Police in Erode, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli districts.On central deputation, he served as Regional Passport Officer, Ghaziabad under the Ministry of External Affairs. He has served on important posts like Commissioner of Police, Madurai,[4] Inspector General of Police, South Zone, Additional Director General of Police in Human Rights and Social Welfare.[5] In the year 2018, when he was Inspector General of Police (South Zone), 13 protesters were killed in police firing during the anti-Sterlite Copper protest in Thoothukudi,[6] for which he was criticized.[7]
