Tone issues

[edit]

I think this article is poorly written, seems like the "Features" section is just promotional copy from Google, and the versions table's "Developer actions" column is unnecessary and written like a manual. I recommend just deleting that column but the rest of the article needs a lot of cleanup as well imo Splatterxltalk 17:59, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @Vestrian24Bio for fixing the versions table! Splatterxltalk 15:50, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Missing section?

[edit]

The Privacy Sandbox on Android feature section makes no sense, ending with “These features include the following.” FlairImsaho (talk) 01:13, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed summary for technical prose

[edit]

I've been using Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental large language model to create summaries for the most popular articles with {{Technical}} templates. This article, Android 16, has such a template in the "Features" section. Here is the paragraph summary at grade 5 reading level which Gemini 2.5 Pro suggested for that section:

Android 16 adds new things to phones, like letting you run computer programs in a special safe space and making it easier to pick photos from online storage right inside apps, including searching for them. It helps keep your health information safe while letting apps use it if you agree, and protects your privacy even when you see ads. You can also share sound with many Bluetooth headphones at once, and your phone won't make too much noise if you get lots of messages quickly. Apps will work better on big screens by changing shape to fit, and new notifications will show live updates for things like food deliveries. Phones will also be able to record better videos and show writing that goes up and down for some languages.

While I have read and may have made some modifications to that summary, I am not going to add it to the section because I want other editors to review, revise if appropriate, and add it instead. This is an experiment with a few dozen articles initially to see how these suggestions are received, and after a week or two, I will decide how to proceed. Thank you for your consideration. While I appreciate the suggestion, AI-generated text tends to be of poor quality. InfiniteNexus (talk) 17:43, 3 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am retracting this and the other LLM-generated suggestions due to clear negative consensus at the Village Pump. I will be posting a thorough postmortem report in mid-April to the source code release page. Thanks to all who commented on the suggestions both negatively and positively, and especially to those editors who have manually addressed the overly technical cleanup issue on six, so far, of the 68 articles where suggestions were posted.
