[edit]I don't know anything at all about this subject but it sounds interesting. The existing article is too short to be very useful and sounds biased and lacks context. The only source cited is a New York Times article written in 1989 when Bulgaria was controlled by the Soviet Union and there were signs that the USSR was weakening. So can we rely on the neutrality of the NYT at the time? To build this into a proper Wikipedia article we need contributions from people who were in Bulgaria or Turkey at the time, citations from Bulgarian and Turkish newspapers ... a discussion between people with different views on the matter.
I will try to investigate this further. In the meantime, I've found a much more detailed account at http://www.faqs.org/minorities/Eastern-Europe/Turks-of-Bulgaria.html but I have no idea how reliable it is. James T Phelan (talk) 17:28, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
