Correct argument?

The hydrometer floats in equilibrium is when the displaced weight of air and water is the same as the weight of the hydrometer. Not only the gas and the fluid increase their densities when the pressure is increased, that of the hydrometer will too. (I.e., its average density.) So, whether or not the hydrometer will float with the same scale mark at surface level as before the pressure increase, is a question of how much the hydrometer shrinks in relation to the compression of the two fluids. 2A02:1660:69A9:1500:93DC:5A4E:F413:A5A1 (talk) 14:48, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
