File Chopper

[edit]

I was hoping this article would help me pick an application to help me chop a file. IE break it into pieces small enough I could email them. Mathiastck 18:08, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article presumes that a file is a computer file and that an archive is something that exists only in a computer. Files and archives pre-existed computers. The title and content of the article might recognize this.

JZip article nominated for deletion

Please help discuss that on its AfD page. --AVRS 16:29, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Usefulness of a Wikipedia article, even if it's a Stub.

[edit]

Hello, I was "distressed" to find a Spell Check program (abiword for Linux) that sited archiver as an invalid word. Note that the editor of this talk page also flagged this word. So, even if this is a Stub article, with at least two "problems" that could get it deleted, I wanted you people to know that, at least one person benefited from the fact that this is a word that belongs in Spell Checker programs. Thank you! Kenneth Parker, Seattle, WA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sea7kenp (talkcontribs) 07:03, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ken. You needn't type your whole name. Just insert ~~~~ where you signature should appear and the software will take care of the rest.
Now, as for the spelling problem, Wikipedia has a deletion policy in which a bug in the spell checker of some piece of software is not a valid criteria for deletion. I suggest you report the mistake to Abiword team. "File archiver" is not a spelling error. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 06:40, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I do not it is a good idea to merge

[edit]

a file archiver is a tool for archiving, and an archive file is a file that is archived. so I don't think it is a good idea to merge. FockeWulf FW 190 (talk)FockeWulf FW 190FockeWulf FW 190 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:58, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. I replied with more detail to same comment in the [Archive_file talk]. Stevebroshar (talk) 17:02, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The comment was from 2013 from a user that has not edited since 2019. No merge is being suggested — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 17:29, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
IMO, they should be merged ;) ... suggested Stevebroshar (talk) 17:53, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
