Fobbit

I slightly disagree with the orignator of the term FOBit. I believe it is a portmanteau of FOB and Hobbit and I also believe it was around before the timeframe said in this article. I could be wrong. US FOBs

The article doesn't do a good job of explaining how a US base would be considered a FOB. I think the answer has to do with their "tactical" nature as the intro paragraph suggests, but I think it would be good to explain this more precisely. 70.251.147.224 (talk) 20:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FOB Support

My understanding is that FOBs are usually supported primarily by a specific MOB. Is this true, or not? Can we speak to that in the article? If it's true, can we document these supporting relationships to the listed FOBs? 70.251.147.224 (talk) 20:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of forward operating bases

I propose that we move the FOBs in Afghanistan section to a new article called List of forward operating bases as the withdrawal is coming to an end (mostly) and that this article should be more focused on what a forward operating base is and does

Any suggestions?
