Overall: I formatted the hooks to pipelink Japan, and remove the unnecessary acronym DBP. The article was created on March 24, and nominated the same day for DYK. Length and sourcing are adequate. The article is neutral in tone. No plagiarism was detected despite Earwig highlights proper nouns and quotes which are not violations. Both hooks are interesting, but ALT0 is stronger. ALT0 is supported by two sentences in the article, both of which need a citation directly at their ends, as per WP:DYKHFC. ALT1 is verified by the cited source. Rank of the Joint Operations Commander

Nagumo is referred to as lieutenant general in media because that was his rank immediately before his appointment. There may also be a confusion as both four-star and three-star generals have the title 陸将 (Rikushō) in Japanese. However, this article already states that the Joint Operations Commander has the same rank as the Joint Staff chief and the service chiefs and Nagumo can be seen with four stars on his shoulder since his appointment.
