This is not a page about Unicode or font support for phonetic symbols

[edit]

Sections like "Non-trivial Unicode support" (or really, everything besides the lede) must either be made relevant to the encyclopedic topic of the article (i.e., a book about phonetic symbols) or be deleted. Hftf (talk) 09:41, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

How are the symbols in a guide to symbols not relevant? — kwami (talk) 10:25, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is an encyclopedic article about a book that inventories symbols. It's not an article about symbols. It's not about how Unicodable the symbols found in the book are. In general the Unicode-ness of symbols is almost never encyclopedically relevant in the first place, except perhaps in articles about Unicode, etc. Practically every sentence currently written in the article past the first paragraph does not relate in any way to the book itself. Look at the subject of every (unsourced btw) sentence. Does this really need to be explained to you? We've both been here for 20 years, come on now. Hftf (talk) 11:05, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
