Revision to 2017 classification
[edit]I am currently working on revision to add 2017 classification scheme and edit this article as needed to be consistent with 2017 ILAE classification. I will retain the older classification as it is used in textbooks and older articles.. Any comments?

Major restructuring for clarity, clinical accuracy, and alignment with 2025 ILAE classification
[edit]I’ve completed a substantial revision and reorganization of this article to improve clinical accuracy, structural clarity, and alignment with the ILAE 2025 seizure classification. The previous version was based primarily on the 2017 ILAE operational framework and earlier historical terminology. The current structure incorporates the ILAE 2025 distinction between classifiers (used to define seizure types) and descriptors (used to provide additional semiological information), as well as changes in terminology, conceptual framing of consciousness, and reduction in the number of formally recognized seizure types. Where possible, earlier historical classifications are retained for context. The article also summarizes the evolution of seizure classification from antiquity to the present and outlines current clinical relevance.
Further contributions are welcome, especially in refining examples, updating clinical implications, and expanding figures or diagrams. Please cite reliable sources such as ILAE position papers, systematic reviews, and high-quality clinical references.
