Alptekin Aydin (born 1973) is a British-Turkish clinical neuroscientist, neuropsychologist, and author specializing in neuromodulation, autism spectrum disorders,[1] attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning difficulties, epilepsy, substance misuse, and psychological and neurological treatments.[2] He is the author of the non-fiction book The Autism Renaissance and is CEO and co-founder of Cosmos Healthcare Ltd.[3][4]

Early Life and Education

Aydin was born in Moda, Istanbul. He graduated with a degree in psychology from Istanbul University and subsequently earned a master’s degree specializing in neurological and pharmacological substance addiction from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London.[5] He further obtained his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Neuroscience in the United States.[6]

Career

Aydin has conducted and contributed to research in the fields of neuromodulation and brain connectivity, publishing scientific articles in reputable international journals.[7] His notable research includes studies such as “Assessing the Impact of tDCS Treatment Over the Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex (DLPFC) on Social Communication in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders,” published in Research in Developmental Disabilities. He developed the QPAN (QEEG-guided Personalized AI-based Neuromodulation Therapy),[8][9] a personalized therapeutic system utilizing AI-guided neuromodulation interventions.[10] He also created Neuromap,[11][12][13] an AI-driven brain mapping algorithm used for diagnostic precision and treatment planning.[14][15]

In 2025, Aydin published The Autism Renaissance, exploring real-life cases and scientific insights into autism treatments through neuromodulation and artificial intelligence-based interventions.[16] Dr. Aydin co-founded Cosmos Healthcare Ltd. with his wife, Funda Aydin, who serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).[17] The company provides specialized neuromodulation therapies targeting neurological and psychiatric disorders.[18] Additionally, he serves as Chairman of Cosmos Istanbul Services Inc., facilitating communication for Turkish-speaking communities throughout the EU and Turkey.[19]

A certified Expert Witness for Civil Law, Aydin applies QEEG-based brain mapping methods in judicial and medico-legal contexts, providing expert testimony and scientific evidence for court proceedings.[20][21]

He holds professional memberships in several organizations, including the British Psychological Society (BPS), the British Neuroscience Association (BNA),[22] the British Association for Psychopharmacology (BAP), and the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP).[23][24]

Awards

In 2020, Aydin was awarded the “Best Turkish Specialist Psychologist in Europe” by the International Summit Award.[25][26]
