EU AI Office is a regulatory and coordination body established by the European Commission in 2024 to oversee the implementation and enforcement of the EU AI Act. It is part of the Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT).
Responsibilities
[edit]The Office supports the enforcement of the AI Act, especially for high-risk AI systems, and coordinates with national competent authorities. It also plays a key role in developing guidance, assessing general-purpose AI models, and fostering international cooperation on AI regulation.
Structure
[edit]The AI Office is part of the European Commission and works in collaboration with EU member states, regulatory sandboxes, and expert advisory groups.
