Not much happening on this page.
Most of my work is focused on standardising election tables for countries and updating all the information if needed.
What I do
[edit]- Party election tables and results in Europe and the Commonwealth
- Mauritian elections
Guidelines that I use
[edit]Legislative status | Rationale |
---|---|
Green: party is in government | |
Majority | Party achieves or governs alone with more than half of the seats. |
Supermajority | Party achieves or governs alone with two-thirds of the seats. |
Minority | Party governs alone however without a majority in legislature. |
Coalition | Party governs with other parties, regardless whether the coalition is a majority or minority. |
Yellow: party sits outside of government but supports it | |
External support | Party provides explicit support or confidence to the government. |
Confidence and supply | Westminster terminology; party provides votes in confidence and supply bills. |
Opposition with other arrangements |
Party remains in opposition but has specific arrangements with the government in terms of programme; no guarantee of confidence to the government. |
Cooperation agreement | Green party terminology; party settles with the government a signed agreement in terms of programme. May or may not include or guarantee confidence to the government. |
Red: party sits in opposition | |
Opposition | Party is the main opposition ('official' status in Canada) and with the most seats that is not in or supports the government. Also used for other countries with no distinction for opposition party status. |
Crossbench | Westminster (i.e. Australian) terminology; party sits in opposition but is not the main opposition. |
Third/Fourth party | Westminster (i.e. Canadian) terminology; party sits in opposition but with recognised status. |
No status | Party is in opposition but has no recognised status/group in legislature. |
Blue: inconclusive election result | |
Snap election | No government formed within the time period and another election is called. Caretaker government may either be the incumbent or a technocratic government. |
Grey: unrepresented in legislature | |
No seats | Party is not represented in the legislature; has no seats. |
