Nick Marcus (formerly known as Henry "Hank" McDaniel) is an American former professional basketball player. He played collegiately for Trinity International University, Oakton Community College, Central Maine Technical College (now CMCC), and the University of Maine. He also played professionally for Etendard de Brest in France and the Connecticut Skyhawks in the United States Basketball Conference. Marcus participated in the Denver Nuggets 2003 open tryouts, an event documented by ESPN The Magazine.

Early life

Marcus was born on July 21, 1973, and raised on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois. He attended Evanston Township High School, where he played on the varsity basketball team.

College career

Marcus began his collegiate basketball career at Trinity International University. He later transferred to Oakton Community College, where he earned MVP honors at the Rick Ball All-Stars Junior College Camp and the Thanksgiving Illinois Jamboree. He then transferred to Central Maine Technical College, helping lead the team to a strong season.

Marcus concluded his college basketball career at the University of Maine, where he played as a 6-foot-7 forward. He was known for his athleticism, shot-blocking, and dunking ability.[1]

Professional career

Following college, Marcus played for the Connecticut Skyhawks in the United States Basketball Conference during the 1998 season.[2] He also played professionally overseas for Etendard de Brest in France.[3]

In 2003, Marcus participated in the Denver Nuggets open tryout in Denver, Colorado. His involvement in the tryout was featured in an article published by ESPN The Magazine, which described the event and included photos of Marcus in action.[4]

Legacy

Marcus was recognized in multiple articles for his physical style of play and his role as a contributor on both junior college and NCAA Division I teams. A 1995 article from the *Bangor Daily News* profiled Marcus’s impact on the University of Maine’s frontcourt.[5]
