TelmoMiel is a Dutch artist duo consisting of Telmo Pieper (born June 1989 in Rotterdam) and Miel Krutzmann (born May 1984 in Amsterdam). They are internationally recognized for their large-scale murals in over 25 countries.[1][2]
TelmoMiel was founded in 2012 after the two met during their time at the Willem de Kooning Academy[3] in 2006 and began collaborating. Their work combines realistic, abstract, and surreal elements. They use a mix of mural painting and spray techniques to create complex scenes and creatures that often reference humans and animals. Their works aim to convey positive feelings such as calmness, humor, and romance.[1].
The duo places a strong emphasis on perspective and ambiguity in their art, which is reflected in their multi-layered, often monumental pieces. Their works are characterized by playful abstraction, layering techniques, and the combination of figurative elements to create captivating scenarios. In addition to large murals, they also work in their studio, Sober Collective, in Rotterdam, where they produce smaller works and exhibitions.[4]
