Velocity
Definition: Velocity is the rate of change of an object's position with respect to time, including both speed and direction.
Vector Quantity: Unlike speed, velocity has both magnitude and direction.
Formula : Velocity= Displacement / Time
SI Unit: Meters per second (m/s).
Types:
- Uniform Velocity: When an object moves with a constant velocity.
- Variable Velocity: When an object’s speed or direction changes.
- Instantaneous Velocity: The velocity of an object at a specific instant.
- Average Velocity: Total displacement divided by total time.
- Relation to Acceleration: A change in velocity over time results in acceleration.
Example: A car moving at 60 km/h eastward has a velocity of 60 km/h east.
