Warning templates
[edit]Please subst them (like {subst:uw-vand1}), I removed one bracket here so it won't actually do it). Thanks! Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 18:55, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Myrealnamm What does subst do? And how is it different from simply doing "{Uw-4}" 135.180.130.195 (talk) 18:56, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- I forgot how to explain right now, but if you don't, a bot will subst it for you in a few minutes, so it's better to do it without the extra step made by the bot. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 19:00, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Is there an essay that can explain this to me? If a bot will automatically subst it, then I don't really need to put in the extra work. Also
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia. displays the exact same message. I don't see a use as it doesn't change the message in any way. 135.180.130.195 (talk) 19:01, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- There really isn't an essay, but at Category:User warning templates it says
These templates should be substituted. For example, use:
Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 19:04, 2 March 2025 (UTC){{subst:templatename}}
rather than{{templatename}}
.

- @Myrealnamm @135.180.130.195 Most templates are transcluded, meaning that if the template is updated, it'll display as such everywhere. When templates are substituted, they do not update as it becomes its own code on the specific page for its specific purpose.
- For example, if typing {{exampletemplate}} transcludes to create this:
- Insert text hereee
- It would update on all pages when updated.
- Insert text here
- An example of substituted templates include signatures. Typing ~~~~ displays signatures as you see them, but in the source code, the swindles change to the actual code for the signatures. Look at the source editor to see the code for my signature. Tarlby (t) (c) 00:52, 5 March 2025 (UTC)

Warning
[edit]Hello, 135.180.130.195,
I realize that you are trying to help but leaving an editor THREE "This is your final warning!!!" is ridiculous. Don't start off with a final warning and don't post one more than once. Otherwise, they become meaningless. Liz Read! Talk! 21:36, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Liz Understood 135.180.130.195 (talk) 01:09, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Liz I also just wanted to add that I only use UW-3 and 4 if it is obvious vandalism. Vandals obviously aren't going to improve the encyclopedia. 135.180.130.195 (talk) 01:22, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Starting with a first or second level warning is sufficient for almost all vandalism. There are more than a few reformed vandals out there so please don't be too bitey. Thanks! Daniel Quinlan (talk) 03:32, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
Autoconfirmed
[edit]If you would like Autoconfirmed access, you will need to create an account. Autoconfirmed gives you many benefits, including WP:Twinkle, a popular Javascript tool (even I use it, no "installation" needed) that makes reverting vandalism REALLY easy. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 01:57, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Myrealnamm I often find myself reverting vandalism before twinkle users do and I don't want to create an account as I will not remember the password for such an account. 135.180.130.195 (talk) 01:59, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oh and I want to be able to vanish easily. 135.180.130.195 (talk) 01:59, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Warn module - I do get your point. However you are able to reset account passwords if you forgot them with an email attached, and also, Twinkle can revert in one click, rather than clicking undo then publish. It also gives you a big menu for all the warnings, as well as other menus for AIV, RPP, CSD, XFD, etc. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 02:04, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- And there is a way to vanish accounts by a bot changing the username to random gibberish. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 02:05, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Myrealnamm Can I transfer over my edits here? 135.180.130.195 (talk) 02:06, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately not, but you could state that you've edited as IP in the past as 135.180.130.195 or something similar. I wish there was a feature like that. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 02:07, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I want to let you know that you didn't assumed good faith at User talk:Axel110R as you gave a level 2 vandalism warning where you should've gave a level 1 unsourced warning. I suggest that you have a second check of this revision as it was clearly made in good faith and was not vandalism and the user appears to be here to build an encylopedia, but the user didn't provide a citation to a reliable source.
Also, I have noticed that you are very interested in getting autoconfirmed or contributing to Wikipedia in good faith as I see that you've created a user page for this IP address. I suggest that you should create an account, that way you could get autoconfirmed after 10 edits for 4 days and extended confirmed after 500 edits and 30 days. I would like to point out that if you do create a user page for this IP address, the only problem is that this IP address won't last forever and you're service provider may changed the IP address at certain times or someone else could use this IP address.
Thanks. PEPSI697 💬 | 📝 10:11, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on Seed oil misinformation. Thank you. The edits you reverted were perfectly acceptable additions to the encyclopedia, and your jump straight to a level-three warning on the anonymous editor's talk page is especially egregious. Please assume good faith in the future and refrain from such reverts and warnings. Dan Leonard (talk • contribs) 16:38, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to assume bad faith when dealing with other editors, as you did at User talk:69.157.231.5, you may be blocked from editing. Assume that they are here to improve rather than harm Wikipedia. Sophisticatedevening (talk) 20:50, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
![]() | This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
