File source problem with File:Kimwiggins.jpg
[edit]
Thank you for uploading File:Kimwiggins.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:32, 15 March 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. ☼ 07:32, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

License tagging for File:WIGGINS-Prairie-Fire.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:WIGGINS-Prairie-Fire.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:06, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Problems with upload of File:Lewisnclark.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Lewisnclark.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.
To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Fair use rationale for File:Lewisnclark.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Lewisnclark.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File permission problem with File:Kim d wiggins.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:Kim d wiggins.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en
wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 04:35, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Non-free image
[edit]I have again removed the non-free image you inserted in Red Cloud's war. Non-free images are not allowed unless a non-free rationale is provided on the image page for each article the image is used in separately. If you do not provide a rationale you cannot use the image in the article. If you do provide a rationale, I will probably challenge it because it is totally unnecessary to have non-free content in that article. In any case, the file will be deleted altogether if a rationale is not provided. Regards, SpinningSpark 22:52, 9 April 2013 (UTC).
Orphaned non-free image File:Kim Wiggins Painting of the Fetterman Massacre.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:Kim Wiggins Painting of the Fetterman Massacre.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fut.Perf. ☼ 14:30, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Kim Douglas Wiggins
[edit]You wrote on my talk page (assume it was you, you were not logged in);
- You are removing several images that I have uploaded for the Kim Douglas Wiggins article. I would like to know what I should choose to be able to use his paintings in his article where he retains the copyright of the image. He doesn't want people downloading and using his paintings in published works. I am sure there are a ton of copyrighted sculptures and paintings on Wikipedia, just how should I upload them for use only on Wikipedia?
- These paintings are critical in the article for Kim Wiggins as they show samples of his work.
- Thanks!
- Juliana
I have not done anything to the Kim Douglas Wiggins article. As you can see from the article history the images were removed by a bot because they had been deleted (not by me). The only related thing that I have done is remove an image from Red Cloud's war where it is unnecessary.
The simple fact is that Wikipedia does not particularly want non-free images because we are a provider of free content and adding such material makes it more difficult for other people to reuse pages. We only use such material where absolutely necessary. There is no way to limit permission only to Wikipedia under our rules, but we sometimes use non-free material if there is a valid fair use rationale.
If you want to use the images as fair use, the first thing you need to do is provide evidence that you have permission to upload them to Wikipedia. You can do this by asking Mr. Wiggins to place a suitable copyright permission notice on his website, or else you can do it through the WP:OTRS system. Once you have that you should provide a link to the permission on the image's Wikipedia page or use a suitable OTRS template such as Template:OTRS permission when OTRS give you a ticket number.
You must also provide a fair use rationale explaining why it is necessary to use the image in the article. This must be done separately for every article the image is used in. Please read Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline for more information. SpinningSpark 16:43, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Pioneer bank
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Pioneer bank requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:49, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
Undisclosed paid editing
[edit]
Hello Graphmaster. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Pioneer bank, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Graphmaster. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Graphmaster|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:54, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Regarding your message at User talk:PioneerBank, you said "I posted the Pioneer Bank page as I work here [...]". If you work for Pioneer Bank, then you are a paid editor. Your employment by itself is enough to trigger the mandatory paid editing disclosure policy. It does not matter whether or not you are specifically paid to edit Wikipedia about your employer; nor does it matter whether or not you are being directed to write about it by your superiors.
- As for the Pioneer Bank article itself, I nominated it for deletion. Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest.
- As far as your edit to the Roswell, New Mexico article go, you should not be doing this directly. As you have disclosed that you are a city councillor, you have an inherent conflict of interest editing topics related to the city and its governance. I have a rather good sense of this, as I myself am employed by the local government in the city of Saskatoon. Any edits that I think could be challenged or have the appear of civic boosterism, I propose changes on the appropriate article talk page instead of editing it directly. Wikipedia is meant to inform, not promote or advocate. The conflict of interest guidelines state right at the beginning:
- As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia's mission is to provide the public with articles that summarize accepted knowledge, written neutrally and sourced reliably. Readers expect to find neutral articles written independently of their subject, not corporate or personal webpages, or platforms for advertising and self-promotion. Articles should contain only material that complies with Wikipedia's content policies and best practices, and Wikipedians must place the interests of the encyclopedia and its readers above personal concerns.
- I strongly advise you to review the conflict of interest and paid editing rules carefully, and then learn the process of how to make edit requests for articles where you have personal involvement. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:17, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. I haven't posted or edited for some time, so I am still learning. I just added the paid tags to my user page, please see if I did that correctly.
- As for the Pioneer Bank article, please don't deleted it. It is notable as it is one of the first banks in New Mexico, forming even before statehood. Our board of directors had one of the governors of NM on it: James F. Hinkle - Wikipedia
- I will work to find more sources.
- I was not aware of the talk feature to add information to an article - pertaining to the Roswell, NM article. I can suggest edits there? Then someone can add them? The edits I made were minor and only were made to provide more information for the user.
- Thank you. Graphmaster (talk) 14:59, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Pioneer Bank has a wonderful history in New Mexico, unfortunately, New Mexico is not the best in archiving articles or information. Many of the first directors at Pioneer Bank were all City leaders that helped the bank grow. https://pioneer.bank/timeline/first-board-of-directors-meeting/ The historical information that the bank has is listed on the website for the bank. https://pioneer.bank/learn-more-about-pioneer-bank/ The original meeting of the stockholders was held on December 27, 1900. A committee of nine was chosen to prepare the charter and by-laws, which were filed with the Secretary of the Territory of New Mexico and approved by the stockholders on April 5, 1901.
- The most notable ones are James F. Hinkle, Mayor of Roswell (1904–06), New Mexico State Senator (1912–1916), Governor of New Mexico (1923–25) https://banklookup.spmc.org/banker/15852
- Edward Augustus Cahoon
- If I were to reformat the page to provide more information like this, would it then be considered? https://banknotehistory.spmc.org/wiki/First_National_Bank%2C_Roswell%2C_NM_%28Charter_5220%29 Graphmaster (talk) 15:41, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
