Banks or any company are not "listed" here as this is not a directory where mere existence merits inclusion here. There are criteria to satisfy. If UMB Financial Corporation representatives are writing the article and have not declared it, that would be problematic too. Articles are typically written by independent editors who take note of a subject in independent reliable sources and choose to write about it. Wikipedia is not interested in what any company considers to be its own history, only in what independent sources write about its history. You will need to show us by editing in areas unrelated to your bank that you understand the relevant Wikipedia guidelines regarding notability and article content. If you do, you may later be permitted to indirectly contribute about your bank, but not now. If you don't wish to contribute about other topics, it's not likely you will be unblocked, though it is no longer up to me. I want to emphasize that while I recognize the promotional benefit from having our bank on Wikipedia, I also want you to know that there is historical significance to to this bank, having been a Kansas City bank for nearly 100 years, and owned in the 1920's by James Pendergast, friend of Harry S. Truman's and nephew to City Boss Tom Pendergast. We do significant charity work in the community and I can provide citations on any sources. Please let me know what I need to do to get unblocked. - I don't want to just go ahead and decline your appeal, but I will tell you what, partly reading between the lines, concerns me about it, so that you can give this some more thought.
- You may be planning to write an article about your bank, its history, the good stuff it does in the community, etc., to demonstrate its importance and good qualities.
- That would almost certainly not be acceptable.
- Firstly, you will not be allowed to publish such an article in the encyclopaedia, on account of your paid-editing conflict-of-interest (see WP:PAID). You would only be allowed to create a draft, which you must submit to the 'Articles for Creation' (AfC) project for approval. They may or may not approve it. If they do, you will then not be allowed to directly edit the published article, but must suggest edits via its talk page, which may or may not be implemented. Meanwhile, pretty much everyone else will be allowed to edit the article, and may do so in ways that you might not be happy about. The article will not belong to you or your bank in any sense of the word, it will be a Wikipedia article about your bank. This all might not sound like a particular sweet deal, but that's the way Wikipedia works.
- The second crucial thing to understand is that we have no interest in what you, as a representative of the bank, want to tell the world about your bank; that would be considered purely promotional (see WP:YESPROMO), which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Instead, we are almost exclusively interested only in what independent and reliable secondary sources have said about your bank and what makes it worthy of note. Your job is therefore merely to summarise what such sources have previously published, no more, no less, warts and all. (You may then supplement this with a limited amount of factual, non-contentious information from primary sources such as your bank's website; this could include historical dates, location of your HQ, name of your founder and current CEO, etc.) You must cite the sources that you have summarised, against the information they have provided, so that it is clear where the contents are coming from. This will also be used to determine whether your bank is actually notable enough to justify an article in the first place: if you cannot find at least three sources that squarely meet the WP:NCORP notability guideline, it will not be possible to create an article on your bank at all. I cannot comment at this time what your chances of finding sufficient (in quality and quantity) sources might be, except to say that the vast majority of businesses and other organisations do not qualify for an article. Maybe your bank does... or maybe it doesn't.
