Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
BGerdemann (WMF) (talk) 19:21, 23 October 2024 (UTC)

"Palestine" in flora distributions
Hi, the now obsolete World Checklist of Selected Plant Families (WCSP) and the replacement Plants of the World Online (PoWO) use the WGSRPD scheme for plant distributions. When you see "Palestine" in such a source, as explained at Category:Flora of Palestine (region), it means Israel, including the Palestinian territories, plus Jordan. So it's wrong to link to Palestine. Two possibilities are to use the [[Palestine (region)|Palestine region]]
or the [[:Category:Flora of Palestine (region)|Palestine region]]
. Peter coxhead (talk) 17:20, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- The links were/are to State of Palestine which has now been moved to Palestine and a number of the articles are listing Israel and/or Jordan separately. Since they're using the countries it's natural to default to simply fixing the link. I leave it to others to use alternative schemes. Timrollpickering (talk) 10:23, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- I still think that if you change a link which was originally wrong in its context, then it's better to change it to one that is correct. Peter coxhead (talk) 15:17, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
Category:State of Palestine templates
I think this and its subcats are the remaining cats with "State of Palestine" in their title. Are you planning on nominating for speedy rename? WikiCleanerMan (talk) 23:28, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
- I can have a look through at the weekend or can you nominate them now? Timrollpickering (talk) 23:32, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
- I would. But its a lot of digging through for me. I mean outside of requesting a move, some templates would have to be moved as well to remove State of in the name. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 21:34, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Also the years in cats have not been nominated for renaming and some articles are still using state of in the title as well. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 21:45, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
Category:Gobioninae/Gobionidae
In October 2024 WP:Fishes agreed to use the classification set out in Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes (ECoF) for extant fish taxa at or below the lever of order. This means that the article attached to this category is Gobionidae, surely the category should reflect the title of the main article? Quetzal1964 (talk) 15:40, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Regardless of the issue, any category found poorly manually moved with contents left behind will get reverted to tidy things up to the status quo ante. It is down to those wanting to change things to initiate a renaming properly. Timrollpickering (talk) 16:58, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Recreation of Category:Yuvan Shankar Raja
Way back in 2012, you correctly closed a CFD discussion as delete because there wasn't enough content to justify it. Since then, the content has doubled with both articles and subcats so I just recreated Category:Yuvan Shankar Raja.
If you have any concerns that this category might still be controversial, just let me know and I'll renominate it. - RevelationDirect (talk) 17:40, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
